The Church has once again failed, and it breaks my heart.
This week alone, I’ve had four conversations with people I never would’ve thought of as “church people.”
They haven’t attended in years. They’re often critical.
But when I share the Gospel — not politics, not platitudes, but the actual Word of God — they agree.
Deeply.
They say:
Yes, we need something bigger than ourselves
Yes, the world is full of man-made philosophies that fail
Yes, we should love our neighbor — and we don’t
Yes, we need a framework that is higher than us — and full of grace
These people haven’t left faith.
They’ve left the Church.
Because far too often, the Church isn’t preaching the Gospel
It isn’t offering grace
It isn’t showing a way to live that’s rooted in truth and mercy
And that breaks my heart.
Because if we — the Church — don’t speak the Gospel, then who will?
And if we don’t live the Gospel, then why should anyone stay?
“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture, declares the Lord.”
Jeremiah 23:1
